Google Constricts Policy For Political Ads To Prevent Misuse

Google is planning to tighten the regulations regarding targeting of political adsto common categories like, gender, age or location via postal code.

The tech-giant Google, has renewed its way of managing the political ads which draws online platforms into worry to not being used to circulate deceitful information directed to influence voters.

The company confirms that the rules will object any advertiser, along with those delivering political messages, from falsifying in ads. This step is making its regulations obvious and also sets an example of how that would restrict posting of exploitative and duplicitous media.

Scott Spencer, Vice President of Google ads product management said that, its against their policies for any content promoter to make bogus claim; be it cost of a chair or a claim that voting by text message is possible, election day being postponed or the death of a candidate.

The banned ads are those which directed links to fake information that would cripple voter’s trust or support in elections. It has also laid its hands on restricting political ads to categories like, gender, age or location via postal code.

Spencer said that they believe a strong political word is a crucial aspect of democracy and none can always prudently adjudge each political claim or implication, thus, they have decided to limit only a particular number of ads which disobeys the laws.

The implementation of the newly made changes will be carried out in Britain in no less than a week and in the entire European Union by the end of the year, further in the rest of the nations from the 6th of January, marked Spencer.
